As most people who visit this blog will know, at EDITD we analyse social and retail sources across the web to give fashion businesses the power to quickly understand trends and market dynamics in real time. Our subscribers use this information to better inform their design, pricing and merchandising strategies.
While this is obviously very exciting as we get to pour over masses of data each day to determine what styles and trends are and will be selling, we also wondered how we could share our love of data with those that may not know their plaids from their paisleys.
Enter, Lady Gaga. We all know her as one of the most influential pop artists of all time, but we wanted to measure her influence and that of the Haus of Gaga. EDITD tracks and analyses over 300,000 social media feeds and over 2 million individual products each day. So we were able to determine what people were saying about Gaga, whether these opinions were positive, negative or neutral and how quickly products that she wore sold out.
A tonne of data and a dash of design and this is what we came up with… enjoy!
