EDITED’s runway coverage for the season has kicked off.
- Better basics took on new meaning and brought a sense of calm to current turbulent times, while utility influences called on military bombers and boots as inspiration. Returning favorites, preppy and retro themes proved resilient heading into 2023.
- Knitwear, fleece and fuzzy textures fed into cozy themes contrasted with a rise of partywear that saw sequins and velvet championed. Shapes remained relaxed across casual and smart areas.
- Organic influences saw mineral tones of amethyst and garnet contrast with volcanic burnt orange and umber hues. Preppy stories were bolstered by primary and secondary combinations, while directional pastel shades were anchored on commercial outerwear shapes.
- Logomania saw designers keen to accentuate their brand, with noughties diamanté “Gs” at Gucci, and “I heart MSGM.” Colorful argyle and rugby-style stripes added to preppy collections, while subdued windowpane checks gave contrast for tailoring.
